National Governing Body Courses PDF Print E-mail

Here at Water Park we are always striving to move our courses forward and initiate new developments. 

In addition to our multi discipline 5 day and weekend courses we are now pleased to offer a range of National Governing Body Award courses.

All courses are staffed by experienced and qualified instructors.Courses are open to anyone who fulfills the requirements laid down by the relevant Governing Body prior  to attending a training or assessment course.

All courses require a minimum number of people to make them viable to run. Prices include VAT, accommodation, food, equipment and instruction.

As with other courses at Water Park, we are able to offer financial contributions to young people who you feel would benefit from such a course, but who cannot afford the full fee.

In addition we are able to access funding for certain courses from the following organisation:

Do you want to Get Qualified? If you’re over 19, working in sport or outdoor pursuits in the North West, you may qualify for up to £300 towards fees for a variety of outdoor and sports qualifications. Full details are available at: www.getqualifiednw.org.uk

BRITISH CANOE UNION Courses

Coaching Scheme Kayak/Canoe
BCU operates a comprehensive Coaching programme. it is designed to ensure that coaches and participants are fully and properly prepared to take part in the sport and that coaches are qualified to instruct participants in all aspects of technique, safety and understanding. 



Canoe/Kayak 1-3 star
Administered by the BCU these awards are a test of personal canoeing/kayaking ability.  They are a useful proof of ability if you are considering moving into the coaching scheme.
Courses are run by arrangement.



MLTE Courses
 
Mountain Leader Summer award
Administered by the MLTUK, this award is for walkers who wish to lead and supervise individuals and groups in the British hills in summer conditions.
You must be registered with the MLTE before attending a training or assessment course.

Single Pitch Award
Administered by the MLTUK, this award is for climbers who wish to lead and supervise individuals and groups on single pitch crags and climbing walls.
You must be registered with the MLTE before attending a training or assessment course.

RYA Courses

Instructor-dinghy sailing
Organised by the NW Region of the RYA, this award is for those who wish to lead dinghy sailing sessions on inland waters.  This is the recognised award for instructing in sailing schools and clubs.

Advanced Instructor Training course
This is a specially designed two day course to prepare you for the Advanced Instructor course.
There is no formal requirement to attend a training course prior to attending an Advanced Instructor course, but this could provide you with or develop the skills you need.

Advanced Instructor course
The advanced instructor is an experienced instructor with a wide background of sailing experience who has been trained to teach the Performance Sailing & Sailing with Spinnakers course.

Performance sailing days
This course is for instructors & SIs who want to gain experience and training of sailing performance dinghies during an informal day with no assessment pressure.

Power boat level 2 course

This 2 day course is essentially your driving licence for the water.  The course covers high speed handling, low speed manoeuveres & man over board recovery.  The high speed element is delivered in Walney Channel, although this is NOT a coastally endorsed award.

Safety boat course
This 2 day course is for those who want to drive a safety boat for a club or RYA training centre.  The course covers safe rescue of sailing crews, winsurfers & canoes.  You must already hold the powerboat level 2 award before undertaking this course.

OTHER COURSES

            

First aid
Administered by Rescue Emergency Care, we can offer 2 day emergency aid courses First Aid courses at Waterpark(recognised by BCU, MLTB, RYA, etc), and 4 day HSE First Aid at Work courses.  First aid courses can be run at Water Park or at your own establishment for suitable numbers.  We now provide first aid training for a variety of school groups.
Courses start at £90 non-residential for 2 day courses.
